On Sunday, the Maximum Gran Fondo Başkent, one of Turkey's most prestigious amateur road cycling races, will take place in Ankara. The event, organised by 78 Event, is expected to bring together hundreds of local and international riders.

The race will commence at 8 a.m. in front of Bilkent Center, with the finish area located on 1597-1 Street. For the safety of the participants and the public, several roads will be closed during the event.

Traffic will not be allowed on the corridors of Simon Bolivar Street, Turan Gunes Boulevard, Incek Sehit Savci M. Selim Kiraz Boulevard, Baglar Street, Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Boulevard, Seyfi Saltoglu Boulevard, Turgut Ozal Boulevard, Tulumtas, Halacli, Koparan, and Eglence Street. The Simon Bolivar-Turan Gunes connection is scheduled to reopen by 9:30 a.m., while the Sehit Savci M. Selim Kiraz Boulevard-Vista shopping mall junction is expected to reopen by 10:50 a.m. The Tulumtas Koparan entrance is targeted to reopen by 11:50 a.m.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, follow on-site directions, and choose alternative routes until the course fully reopens. All courses are scheduled to reopen to traffic by 12:30 p.m.

Ankara Police and the event team will guide safe crossings at all intersections and connecting roads. Police teams and race marshals will be positioned at junctions and access points to maintain safety and keep movements orderly. Temporary road closures will apply along designated routes during the race window.

The exact corridors affected by the closures were not specified, but they will include the start, outbound segments, return sections, and the finish area on specific corridors. Drivers are advised to use alternative corridors until traffic returns to normal.

The Maximum Gran Fondo Başkent is being held with the support of various organisations, including the Ankara Governorship, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, and the Türkiye Cycling Federation. With the excitement building around the event, spectators and motorists are encouraged to support the riders and plan their travel accordingly.
